IMPORTANT UPDATE: SUSPENSION OF ALL FOOTBALL RELATED ACTIVITIES DUE TO COVID-19

To Narrabeen FC Members,

As most of you are no doubt aware, there has been a lot of information coming through in the past few days in relation to Football Australia’s response to the COVID-19 situation. As you can all appreciate, this is an unprecedented and ever changing situation for not only our sport but for Australia in general.

The MWFA Board met last night followed by a meeting with all 17 Association Club Presidents and the Referees Association to discuss the current plan for the start date and 2020 season ahead.

Please find attached the MWFA Board decisions and Frequently Asked Questions documents (as at 19 March 2020).

Firstly, it must be noted that no members are covered by Insurance whilst all football activities have been suspended by the MWFA.

What is meant by All football activities?

  • Training sessions
  • Pre season friendlies
  • MWFA Competition matches
  • Organised training sessions with external providers/academies/private providers
  • MWFA Coach education courses
  • Football Club events (muster days, grading days).

Please do not arrange any “un-official kick arounds”, “un-official friendly matches” or “fitness sessions”. We all have a responsibility to undertake the advice of our Federal Government and Health Department at this time.

There will be no access to lights on training grounds until Monday 27th April (subject to change).

The most important thing to understand about the season ahead is that this season may not look like every other one before it. It’s safe to say that if something has changed this year, we all know there is a very good reason for it. However, if you have a query that is not covered in the attached documents, please feel free to contact your age coordinator, our club secretary or myself and if we cannot answer it, we will escalate your enquiry to the MWFA and get back to you as soon as possible.

This season, there may be some unavoidable changes to competition structures, game start times etc in order to maintain the most complete and enjoyable competition possible for all participants whilst operating within Government and Health Department guidelines.

You can rest assured that the MWFA and Narrabeen Football Club has, and will continue to, put an incredible amount of time and effort into making this season as enjoyable as possible for all of our members.

Lastly, I would like to officially acknowledge the amazing Narrabeen FC Committee who have put months of preparation in to this upcoming season already. This club would not function as smoothly as it does without the selfless dedication of all of our Committee Members and volunteers… A massive thank you to you all!

Regards,

Dan Cook
President
Narrabeen Football Club
